Southeast University recently concluded its selection process for the 2025 "Academic Star" and "Tech Innovation Star" awards for undergraduate students. After fierce competition, Hong Qi and Jia Mo, second-year undergraduates (Class of 2022) from our school, stood out with their outstanding academic performance and were honored with the title of "Academic Star" (only 10 students in SEU received this award).

HONG Qi

A second-year undergraduate student (Class of 2022) from the School of Transportation, majoring in Transportation Engineering (Mao Yisheng Class). Ranked first in the major for three consecutive years, with an average score of 93.51. Achieved a score of 90 or above in 59 courses, and earned 38.6 SRTP credits. Has received a total of 21 awards, including 8 national awards, 4 provincial awards, and 9 university-level awards, such as the National Scholarship, the Baosteel Education Foundation Excellent Student Award, and the Mao Yisheng Railway Hope Star Award.

Focusing on frontier areas such as uncertainty modeling in transportation systems, HONG Qi is dedicated to developing problem-driven applied mathematical methods and optimization theories. Has published 5 academic papers as first author or co-first author, all in JCR Q1 journals. Additionally, 3 papers have been accepted by top-tier conferences in the field of transportation, and 1 national invention patent has been authorized. Among these, a representative work was published in IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, a CCF Category A top journal. Led a research project that received an excellent rating in the National College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program (key area). Won the National First Prize in the "Challenge Cup" competition's "Public Recruitment for Problem Solving" special track, as well as the National Second Prize in the 14th MathorCup Mathematical Application Challenge and the Gurobi Innovation Application Award.

JIA Mo

A second-year undergraduate student (Class of 2022) from the School of Transportation, majoring in Transportation Engineering, with an average score of 91.48. Previously served as the monitor of the Mao Yisheng Class and as a freshman class mentor. Has received honors including the President’s Scholarship, the Xiaomi Special Scholarship (awarded to only two undergraduates university-wide), Southeast University “Model Student”, and Southeast University “Outstanding Student Leader”.

Focusing on the intersection of transportation engineering and artificial intelligence, the student conducts systematic research on AI-assisted autonomous driving safety validation and precise public transportation management. Has published a total of 5 SCI journal papers (3 as first author or co-first author, all in JCR Q1 journals) and 2 international conference papers, with a cumulative impact factor of 30.2. Among these, a representative achievement proposes a physics-informed large language model framework, establishing a complete technical pathway from generation to evaluation of edge cases in autonomous driving. Won the National First Prize in the 20th National Transportation Technology Competition for College Students, the F Award (World-Class) in the 2025 Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM/ICM), the Provincial Second Prize in the 10th Jiangsu Provincial Transportation Technology Competition for College Students, and the Provincial Third Prize in the 14th MathorCup Mathematical Application Challenge.
