On August 15, 2026, the 2026 Sino-Foreign Engineers' Engineering Capacity Enhancement Training Program (Transportation Infrastructure Sector), hosted by the Chinese Association of Engineers and organized by the Jiangsu Provincial Association for Science and Technology, the Jiangsu Society of Engineers, and the National Elite Institute of Engineering at Southeast University, officially commenced in Nanjing. Over 60 engineers from China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Kazakhstan, and other countries gathered in the ancient capital of Jinling (Nanjing) to explore cutting-edge technologies in smart infrastructure, discuss international mutual recognition of engineering standards, and pave the way for connectivity and cooperation, under the theme of "Smart Mobility · Infrastructure Future."

A technical exchange session of the program took place at Southeast University, featuring lab tours and presentations on digital, smart, and green transport infrastructure. Engineers gained insights into the university's smart transport research and applications. Faculty members Yu Bin, Shi Xiaomeng, Zhou Zhou, and Wang Siqi represented the School of Transportation at the event.
The visiting engineers toured the School's labs and research exhibition, exploring achievements in intelligent driving, V2X, transportation simulation, and smart maritime, low-altitude, and highway systems. They viewed the bus green-wave sand table and simulation platform to learn about signal coordination and traffic modeling, and inspected road testing equipment and inspection vehicles for material performance and pavement evaluation. Through demonstrations and discussions, they gained practical insights into experimental methods and engineering applications, while better understanding the digital, intelligent, and sustainable trends in modern transport infrastructure.

After the lab tour, the session shifted to frontier tech sharing. Professor Yu Bin moderated, and Professor Wang Siqi presented in English on "AI-Empowered Transportation Infrastructure," covering AI applications from perception to full lifecycle management. Using domestic cases in network inspection and smart O&M, he offered practical, replicable insights for smarter infrastructure safety. A lively Q&A followed on traffic distribution, load evaluation, and automated design. Then, Wang Ke (Bozhong Institute) spoke on "AI-Empowered International Engineering Exchange," highlighting an intelligent language platform to support multilingual collaboration and global tech outreach.
The event combined lab access, on-site teaching, and expert talks, giving engineers a close look at transport infrastructure technologies while fostering deep dialogue on AI applications in smart mobility and global engineering collaboration—offering a strong platform for cross-border and cross-disciplinary partnerships.
